• Site Introduction

  

  NARIS is the abbreviation for the Korean National Research Information System, which is designed to build an integrated database of dispersed information on Korea’s natural history. This is the standard database system, which integrates information on natural history contained in the already compiled documents or kept in local natural history museums, colleges, science museums in accordance with the standards of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Global iodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). This system can be globally synchronized through global networks with the National Science Museum acting as a GBIF Data Node.

  • - Construction of a linkage/utilization system of the information already compiled by each related
      organization

  NARIS is providing information to KBIF, GBIF, Korea Knowledge Portal, KOBIC by linking, integrating and digitalizing national data and the information of natural history in museums, universities, and science museums.

• Site Introduction

  

  In 1999, Korean cultural heritage was designated by the Ministry of Information and Communication as one of the top five strategic knowledge information database fields along with culture & arts, science & technology, education & academy, and Korean studies & cultural assets. The ‘Korean National Heritage Online’ Project was launched in 2000 1) to satisfy desire for deeper knowledge on cultural assets and raise awareness of cultural heritage, 2) to establish the systems of public cultural service and traditional cultural studies for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life, and 3) to realize the integration and management of cultural heritage and its permanent preservation in a scientific way.
  Knowledge and information on national cultural heritage database regarding cultural assets, national treasures, treasures, historic relics, folk cultural assets, intangible cultural assets, which were gathered from 105 museums, are linked to Museum Portal of Korea, Korea National Heritage Online, and Korea Knowledge Portal for public service. This service is being provided to users of the portals, which are dedicated to delivering information on museums.

  It is providing public services by constructing national cultural heritage database collected from 105 museums such as cultural properties, national treasures, relics, folk cultural assets, and intangible cultural properties, and linking it with Korean National Heritage Online, cultural heritage portal sites, and Korea Knowledge Portal.

  For systematic succession and development of traditional Korean music and enhanced status of our traditional culture, the ‘Traditional Korean Music Database Development’ Project, which aims to digitalize all the documents relating to traditional Korean music, was launched. This project is dedicated to raising awareness of Korea’s cultural heritage and enhancing our reputation as a cultural powerhouse.

  The ‘Construction of a System For Providing Real-time, Tailored Information on Leisure and Sports’ Project was launched to provide useful information to those who are planning to travel around Kangwon Province. Various and useful information on the ecology of the DMZ and Baekdu-daegan, the East Coast, rural areas of Kangwon Province are being provided.

    Tourist destinations in Kangwon Province are classified into four groups of natural resources, leisure/sports, historic/cultural resources, and rest/relaxation tourism. Detailed information on each destination’s introduction, location, travel expenses are being provided.

    Information on travel courses are being provided by theme, namely, wellbeing tourism, experience tourism, romantic tourism, family tourism, recommended tourism for this month. Information on the package tour products currently offered by travel agencies is also being provided by theme.
